"I've used several different types of earphones over my years of exercising. None really fit or felt perfect. The closest thing I had to perfect were a pair of Shure E2C, which I think were more geared to professional musicians than athletes. They sounded pretty good, but were brittle. Man do the UltraFit 3000s break the barrier! They are extremely comfortable and rugged. They are also sweat-proof. The biggest problem, if you can call it that, is that you cannot hear ANYTHING around you when installed correctly in your ear. They are some of the best sound-isolating earphones I've ever tried! It may be great for the gym/treadmill, but add moving vehicles to the mix and ourdoor runners may have a little problem on their hands... just keep the volume low so you can be aware of your surroundings.
I highly recommend these earphones for the gym-goer. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!"

"Finally, I got to the gym. I spent an hour on the elliptical trainer with the UltraFit 3000s, and for that purpose they were excellent. The ’phones maintained a great seal throughout the entire workout, and I when I listened to my music loud, it sounded loud. With so many exercise ’phones, I crank up the volume and still can just barely hear it, while the buds or earpieces fall out of my ears or crackle with sweat. None of that here. I highly recommend the Polk UltraFit 3000s for working out.
The UltraFits are best when complementing an active lifestyle, and particularly a sweaty one. I can’t recommend them for serious listening, as their lack of high end translated into a lack of realism and enjoyment—but their midrange bump is perfect for distorted guitars and kick drums while you’re pumping iron."
"On tracks with deep bass, as noted earlier, the UltraFit3000 sounds great at moderate-to-loud volumes, but begins to distort slightly at maximum volume when using an iPhone or laptop as your sound source. For instance, the Knife's "Silent Shout," a song with very deep bass, made the UltraFit3000 distort slightly at max volume, though not enough to really knock the earphones for. At reasonable volumes, on tracks with deep bass or not, the Ultrafit300 sounds fantastic, especially given the price. If you're the type to exercise to orchestral music—congratulations on your originality, by the way—you'll find the UltraFit3000's response rewarding, adding a nice resonance to the lower frequencies of the percussion and stringed instruments, while maintaining clarity in the mids and highs, in James Horner's Star Trek II film score. Bill Callahan's guitar work on Apocalypse sounds bright without being invasive, and the same treble presence lends itself nicely to the gravelly edge of his rich baritone vocals."
